My neck's better but now I've got a headache

I really need to tidy my room. I was just looking through some drawers to find a packet of Blu Tack so I could stick up my exam timetable when I came across my provisional driving license. I'd totally forgotten I had that thing.

So my exams start one week today. In fact, looking at my timetable, this time next week, I'll just have come home from my Maths prelim. With any luck, I'll have had time to recover a bit and have some lunch before needing to start last minute Computing revision.

My head's still killing me so I've sort of given up on revision for now. Making last minute use of the BBC iPlayer to catch up on Ashes to Ashes so that I can watch the second episode tonight. It can only go back 7 days so at first I thought I'd missed my chance, since the day selection only went back to last Friday. Turns out the content from Thursday was still online though, assuming it was on at a later time last Thursday than the current time. If that makes any sense.

Okay. Watched Ashes to Ashes now. A bit meh, to be honest, but it has promise. I don't particularly like the new main character but she may yet grow on me. The second episode was on tonight, so I'll watch that tomorrow and see if it gets better.

I think that's all I feel like saying tonight. My headache has yet to subside and I really need it to be gone by tomorrow so that I can get on with my studying, so I'm gonna head to bed earlier than normal. By which I mean, before midnight. I'll call this a mini-post and those traditionally end with some amusing links so...

Ah, Doom. King of all shooters, according to some. Didn't really work out so great as a comic book though.

And speaking of amusing comic books, here's a few more over at the appropriately titled Stupid Comics.

You know what? I don't link to Superdickery often enough and it seems to fit with the theme I've got going here. So go there.

That's all.

Procrastination Plus Random Links

Wow, that's depressing. I haven't done any schoolwork in so long that Firefox has forgotten the URL of Scholar, the online reference thing.

Okay, I've figured out what's distracting me. It's my socks. They're thick, sweaty and uncomfortable but if I take them off, my feet will freeze. It's an awful dilemma. Not as bad as my complete and utter inability to get any work done but still pretty nasty.

Yeah, I took the socks off and now my feet are uncomfortable, sweaty and cold. Not to mention the smell.

When I rub my toe up against this metal panel at the bag of my desk, it makes a sound just like the sound made in Half Life when you're walking through those big metal ventilation shafts.

I have taken procrastination to new heights.

Feet still freezing. Work still not done.

Each double-spaced line represents anywhere from two minutes to two hours by the way.

Okay, this one was slightly more than two hours. It's now ten past eleven and the previous sentence was written around, I don't know, two o'clock-ish. Still haven't got any work done though. I'm hoping that tomorrow the pressure will have built up to the point where I can actually make myself do work.

Wow. I'm finding it surprisingly hard to type. I really need to get more sleep. Normally, I'd hate to make such a short post late at night but luckily, I have that weird habit of writing several opening paragraphs long before I even consider writing the whole thing.

I still feel like I should do more though... let's see, I've been browsing the web a lot today instead of working so there must be a few links and bookmarks I can recommend... These are a few of my favourite strips from the comic PhD, the archive of which I just finished off today.

A few days back, I came across the website for Lit Fuse Films. I highly recommend watching all of their machinima, particularly the nearly-two hours long War of the Servers. I considered doing some machinima once... Still might, in fact. Probably won't, but might.

And that's it for now. I have to clear all the crap off my bed now so that I can get some sleep. It was put up there during an arcane, ritualised process that some call “tidying”, designed to appease vengeful gods and angry mothers. Putting it all back down on the floor is probably going to get me yelled at tomorrow, along with the fact that I haven't done my homework. In all likelihood, the yelling will just annoy and distract me further but there's not much I can do about that.

Okay, angsty teenage rant over now. Go away.

Too ill. Can't type.

Ugh. I've had a nasty cold all freaking day. There's nothing quite like a cold (and a CSI: New York DVD box set) to kill your productivity. And your ability to type. Or, as that sentence originally read: “kill your producitivity. And yor abilityt o typi.”

Seriously.

So I reckon I'm just going to make a mini-post and then head to bed, hopefully in order to wake up before 11am tomorrow. If I can achieve that, then I can achieve anything. Except coherent sentences. Damned spontaneous, cold/tiredness-induced inability to type.

All that's left to do now is to point you in the direction of Worse Than Failure (note the initials), an incredibly hilarious site documenting many, many bizarre stories of idiocy and incompetence in IT. Some of the stories require knowledge of programming languages and most need you to have a good degree of computer knowledge in order to get the joke, but if you do, it's great fun.

I really, really hope I never end up working with people like the ones described on that site. Well, okay, I partly hope I do work with some, if only for the comedy value. But I'd hate to be stuck in a company full of them.

That's it for now. Sorry if I missed any spelling errors*. I need to start doing these things earlier in the day. And when I'm healthy.

*No, the ones in the first paragraph don't count, you imbecile.

To Be A Gamer

My iMac just did the weirdest thing. I brought it out of sleep mode and all of a sudden it started making this huge racket. It normally makes a few noises (hard drive, DVD drive, etc. starting up) when I activate it but this was... louder. Like a hoover would sound from a few metres away kind of volume. Same sort of sound as well. It must have been a fan or something but I swear I've never heard anything like it before, at least not from my computer. It took a couple of minutes to die down and now it's stopped.

Really weird.

You know what I've noticed lately? Now is an awesome time to be a gamer.

Think about what's been out in the last couple of months and what's going to be out soon. We've had new entries in the Halo, Half Life, Zelda and Metroid series with a new Mario game, Smash Bros Brawl and Metal Gear Solid 4 all on the horizon (well, some nearer than others but you know what I mean). Then you've got new IPs like Zack and Wiki, Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed all gearing up to make their mark.

And that's just off the top of my head; I'm sure it's far from an exhaustive list but you get the idea. There's no real point to any of this, though maybe I could find one if I had more time and patience, but it's an interesting thought. It's also quite annoying since you can be almost certain that you're missing out on something great if you don't have a solid gold wallet.

I have a whole lot of games that I need to play and a whole lot to say about them but that'll have to wait since, once again, I've left this far too late.

On the bright side this is hilarious, particularly if, like me, you can't stand CSI: Miami. I also came across Flame Warriors, a comprehensive guide to the various types of asshole that you are likely to meet on the interwebz. See how many you can recognise. See how many you are.

That's it for today. Actually, here's another Weebl and Bob cartoon. I'd forgotten how much I loved these things. While I'm at it, this is funny as well, particularly if you are or know people who are afflicted with a Halo 3 addiction.

Overanalyze This!

It's a little after two o'clock right now and I'm home from school, having got out for a doctor's appointment and then not gone back in because all I have is a couple of free periods anyway. It's been bucketing with rain on and off all day, which is kind of miserable, but it does get me out of having to hoover up leaves outside.

It's later now and my thoughts, after a bit of a day off, must now return to getting this post written. I've got a backlog of things that I want to discuss and do but I keep leaving this too late to complete them to my own satisfaction so I'm just going to discuss whatever comes into my head.

As you may well know, I'm a big fan of and occasional contributor to the TV Tropes Wiki, where logically minded individuals come together to point out the similarities in various plots and story telling devices in order to document and (usually) mock them. Of course, the site isn't limited to that and also deals with various fan ideas, meta concepts, Wild Mass Guessing, etc.

One of my favourite pages on the site is the trope called “Everyone Is Jesus In Purgatory”, which deals with fans (and professional critics) who feel compelled to attach significance to every little thing in a fictional creation. It doesn't matter if the author disagrees or if they say it has no meaning or if it's a book written for five year olds – there's someone out there who will argue that it's a metaphor for the Cold War.

A lot of the examples are from songs, shows and pieces of literature that has been professionally critiqued and examined, often producing ideas and themes that the author, when questioned later, will say simply aren't there, or were never intended. The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland often have far too much significance attached to them for the children's books that they are. People have viewed The Lord of the Rings as a tale about World War II, despite Tolkien saying that he had much of it planned and written before his supposed “inspiration” had even started. Douglas Adams said repeatedly that 42 was a random number and, yet, it's been tied to everything “from base thirteen to Tibetan monks”. Of course, that last one might say more about Hitchhiker's fans than anything else.

But some of the funniest stories are ones provided by the tropers from their real life experiences. Things that have happened to them in English classes and discussions of art. Encounters with people for whom common sense, at least when it comes to their chosen “art”, is unheard of and likely blasphemous. You should really read that page.

This is really a pet peeve of mine albeit one that I have to deal with far less often since I dropped English at school. No less a man than Isaac Asimov has commented on it, writing a short story entitled “The Immortal Bard” in which Shakespeare, brought forward in time, fails a class on his own plays. In more serious writing, Asimov apparently concluded that the meaning of a story should be left entirely up to the reader. He himself said that he viewed The Lord of the Rings as a warning against industrialisation and didn't mind in the slightest that Tolkien had denied it.

I really need to get my hands on some more Asimov fiction. Ironically, I did my personal study, a big long essay for Higher English, on The Robots of Dawn. I didn't like doing it though, so it's not a problem.

That's it for tonight. I might do some Physics homework now, if I can be bothered. Other than that, I'm off to bed. Have a nice day.

Mini-posts suck, but at least they don't last long

Another school day, another piece of old technology looted from the Computing lab cupboards. This time, Sam managed to snag himself a BBC Master. We immediately went and hooked it up in the common room, much to the confusion of technically-challenged people and the annoyance of people who wanted to play Halo 2. However, it's my TV and I'll use it for whatever I want.

I wish I had more to say, I really do. I also wish that I didn't have a Computing homework sheet to do most of and Computing first thing tomorrow morning. But such is life. And I still need to play some FFIII DS, damn it. I shall complete that game!

But really, I've left this homework too late so I'm calling this a mini-post (they still count because I say they do) and putting it up before panicking about this homework, doing it and then going to bed.

Here's a kinda funny-ish movie that might be good, judging from certain scenes presented in the admittedly short trailer.

And here's a funny webcomic I read through today. I don't think I've ever used the term here before but I now assure you that this is rather NSFW.

Have a nice day.

Summer's End (Almost)

I'm having bizarre trouble writing the little intro sentence to this post. The gist of it is that the itching I mentioned yesterday was apparently caused by insects, as evidenced by the similar itching and distinct bites on my arms today. So there's apparently some bug flying around the garden that I'm mildly allergic to and have never encountered before. Weird.

So, the summer holidays are almost over now. The question I have to ask myself is, did I get anything done? Well, I suppose I got some stuff done. Assuming about a 550 words-per-post average and an 8 week holiday, I've written about 30, 800 words for TWToday. I've rearranged all the furniture in my room. I've sold my old Axim on eBay. I've finally got round to writing some fiction that's been in my head for years. I've been driving for the first time and gone again.

On the other hand, I've got a big list of things that are still undone. I haven't so much as opened my copy of C++ for Dummies. I meant to get back into Game Maker and didn't. The VersusCOM podcast is still on hiatus and I haven't even made a start on several other VCOM projects, including reviving the website itself. Aside from my Axim, I've still got a tonne of stuff I need to sell.

Still, I guess I can still get that done. I figure Sixth Year will give me a bit more free time – which I'll have to make good use of – and not all of what I meant to do will take ages. Still, it's strange to know that I can't keep putting stuff off until the next school holidays. After this, I've only got three big ones left.

Meh. I'm worrying too much again. And right now is not a time for worrying, it's a time for sleep. I'm getting up early (relatively speaking) tomorrow since we're all heading into Glasgow to the new Apple Store, as I think I mentioned before. Should be fun and, depending on how I like the feel, I may come home with a new keyboard.

I've been reading a load of articles on Snopes recently. I don't know what's more amazing: some of the things that have actually happened or some of the things that people believe have happened. Anyway, it's definitely worth a look, on the off chance that you've never been there before.

More tomorrow, maybe, once I've given some more serious thought to various matters. For today, I'm going to bed, even if I haven't reached that magical 550 word average. Maybe I'll write some more fiction tomorrow to compensate. Or maybe I'll wallow in self-pity and my own inability to take significant actions some more. Or maybe I'll replay the BioShock demo. It's all good.

Too tired... can't title...

So Blogger apparently crapped out on me last night. The post registered as having published last night but I had to redo it this morning before it would appear on the site. No big loss, since this whole "one post a day" thing is more about my sense of personal accomplishment (or, more accurately, lack of total failure) than it is a challenge and I did technically manage to post it to a little StreamK mirror that I set up in a few minutes before midnight.

Today has been another day spent chasing around an over-active 3 year-old and his equally so 7 year-old brother. I don't really have a problem with it, it's just not that conductive to thinking deep thoughts. Or staying awake.

Seriously, ridiculously tired and I still have other stuff to do tonight (such as read all my webcomics tabs that have been sitting open since this morning) so I'm calling tonight's post a mini-post and being done with it. I have some stuff lined up that's a bit more interesting and topical that I've been meaning to write about but I need to get up early tomorrow and I went to bed late last night.

Skippy sent me a graph a couple of days ago that seems to prove that my readers exist, so I feel somehow obligated to provide something more than the above.

So I'll link to this. It's an amusing little diversion and I was going to talk about it at greater length (and may still do so) but here it is now. I've known about this for a while but never looked at any of the charts or anything. If you don't know what I'm referring to, then you either didn't click the link or I forgot to add the link. I'm guessing it's your fault. Here it is again.

Have a nice day. I'm going to bed.

After reading my comics.

And rewatching this. "ROFLMAO", as the saying goes.

Another comedy sketch, but does he have a woodle for tomorrow?

I am a glutton for information, particularly behind the scenes stuff. It's even better if that information happens to be about my favourite industry, the video game industry. I can't recall if I mentioned it here but I was a big fan of Game Trailers' Zelda Retrospective series. The same guy is now doing one on Final Fantasy and one on Metroid. I found the Final Fantasy episodes a bit more interesting but I suppose I knew more about Metroid to begin with. Both highly recommended.

I also suggest that you take a while to watch the embedded video here, showing a presentation made by Will Wright (half-genius video game developer, half-machine) talking about his upcoming title Spore. I really want that game. And I really liked seeing how Wright thought about it and views it. Fascinating stuff.

I've done practically nothing today so I've nothing much to write about. I'm trying to get a camcorder of some sort so that I can record some of these sketches that I write (and hopefully encourage myself to do more writing), maybe as part of a VersusCOM comedy thing, a spin-off of the (currently comatose) podcast.

Anyway, I had an idea for a quick skit a few minutes ago, so here it is.

[A man is standing in front of a whiteboard. The whiteboard is mostly blank except for a few half-erased notes and doodles, some photos stuck to one side and a few other minor items along the edges]

Man: We here at VersusCOM are keen to take advantage of new technologies. As such, we're implementing a new technique called "white screen" technology or CSO, Crap Separation Overlay. What you see behind me is a blank white screen that, through the magic of technology, can make me appear almost anywhere. Such as Paris.

[There is a quick cut and then the board has a crudely drawn picture of the Eiffel Tower on it]

Man: Tokyo.

[The board has an image of Godzilla and a UFO destroying a skyscraper while out of proportion anime characters look on. Parts of the hastily erased Eiffel Tower are still visible]

Man: Outer space.

[A hand holding a pen quickly pulls out of shot after having scribbled the whiteboard mostly black, leaving a few dots for stars]

Man: Or even Antarctica.

[The board is plain white]

Would probably take a while to film but given the obvious poorness of it anyway, we wouldn't need to worry about being in the same position after the cut. Hmmm.... ("he says, looking at the whiteboard to his right.").

Did you know that if you do a full stop, speech marks and then close brackets before the end of a sentence it looks like a bizarrely mauled smiley? It does."). I think that thing's broken my brain.

Alternative opening lines included "We here at VersusCOM are keen to take advantage of...
...loopholes in copyright law."
...drunken women."
...cheap labour in third world countries."
...the space in our home, using the new range of folding furniture from IKEA."

Too many links, too little activity

Apparently, Britain has terrible internet services. I could have told them that. What I want to know is, what the hell are they going to do about it? Maybe we'll hear in a few days. I'll keep my eye out, I guess.

Remember a few days back when I linked to the Joyboard, an old Atari controller, remarking the coincidental similarities to the Wii Balance Board? Seems the professionals have caught up with me. The site that Joystiq got it from even leads to more notes about those Guru Meditation errors I mentioned. Nah, I'm not gloating or anything, just kicking myself for not thinking to email them.

While I'm on a linking spree here, I'll point you at Agony Booth, a site named for a Star Trek mirror universe torture device. It specialises in long, rambling, hilarious rants about crappy movies. I've so far only partly read one recap but the number of times I've been laughing during the reading period appears to indicate the possibility of large reserves of humorous content held within.

That sentence kind of got away from me.

Today has been one of those slow days, filled with DVDs, ice cream, hammocks and replays of Fire Emblem. I've done practically nothing constructive and I'm fairly happy with how the day went.

The problem with doing nothing is that I have nothing to write about at the end of the day. The fact that I'm doing the writing at the end of the day is probably something else I need to work on and doing nothing every day will probably lead to bigger problems than being unable to update my blog but that's not the point here.

Nothing is the point here.

This is a circle.

I'm too tired to think or write coherently. Doing nothing all day is apparently more exhausting than I had previously assumed. I'll have to try doing some stuff tomorrow.

More recommended sites and apologies. Sorry.

Well, the post I had planned and mostly written for today no longer seems appropriate in light of my current mood and recent events. So what am I going to do?

Simple. I'm going to recommend Vendetta Online, a game which I've played for less than two hours and on which I've already become hooked.

I'm going to point you towards Ozy and Millie, an excellent webcomic I'm in the middle of reading.

I'm going to say that I'm extremely annoyed by this news due to the number of the times I've answered "Amazon" to trivia questions and been told that the answer is"Nile".

I'm going to tell you that tonight's episode of Doctor Who was excellent, although I suspect that it will all be erased from the timeline. Unless the Doctor regenerates, though that seems unlikely. But regeneration has been mentioned an awful lot lately... but that could just be to do with the Master... I really can't wait till next Saturday. If that sounds exceptionally geeky, bare in mind that that'll also be the first day of my holidays.

I'm going to ask you if you think you can say "an unaired version of An Unearthly Child" five times fast.

I'm going to decide to forget about the woodle for tonight and simply put one up tomorrow.

I'm going to get some sleep because I suspect that tomorrow will be a very busy day.

I'm going to end this blog post.

Short posts are easier to proof read.

Headache. Hurts. Brain no think good. Typing hurt head.

This be funny video.

iPhone look good.

This interesting as so many news organisations lead with relatively small section of unsurprising results that are related to teenage sex. This depress and amuse me.

This also amuse. Not know what "folksonomy" mean, but gives image of grizzled old guy with guitar and silly accent singing songs about... some country music cliché. I didn't know the word "blooks" either but it annoys me, even if I like the concept. No problem with "blog", "blogosphere" or "podcast" but my hatred for "netiquette" knows no bounds.

Headache's not so bad now but I'm ending this anyway. I've linked enough stuff to keep you occupied until tomorrow. It's either this or another rant about house marching so don't complain.

Notes on slippers, a microcosm of the political process and shameless plugging

The Great Slipper Experiment has hit a bit of a snag. Specifically, it's rubbing against a 1cm wide snag that's appeared on the side of my foot thanks to my new shoes.

I've got nothing much to say tonight so we'll have a little notes post.

Sam is due to appear on the next episode of the Nintendo Report. I only really mention this because he mentioned it at the VCOM podcast site, along with linking here.

This site is fairly new, so there's not much there yet, but it already contains some nicely amusing stories of game store employees who have no clue what they're talking about. It's not a problem I've ever really had but it's worth a read. Kind of reminds me of this.

I just came across Acts of Gord recently, in the same place I found out about the above, but it's an interesting take on the kinds of things that the smart game store employees have to put up with from their customers.

I'm not sure if Skippy has an NWT for tomorrow, but I've got an idea so I might take a stab at it.

This is my 97th daily post for TWToday and there's nothing really special abut that. On the bright side, my 100th falls on Saturday, meaning it may be well-written.

A wonderful microcosm of the political system came into being at school today. With nowhere else to go, three middle class white boys and one girl discussed racism without drawing any conclusions or anybody noticing. This happened for five minutes, after which the topic of conversation turned to the poor stocking of the water bottle machine and what could be done to alleviate the problem. If that isn't politics, I don't know what is.

Oh, and somebody remind me to ask Skippy for the visitor numbers for May. I've been meaning to do that for almost a week.

Also, remind me to find some new toothpaste. Don't ask why, just do. I mean, you could probably figure out that it's because I'm running low on toothpaste and keep forgetting to get more but that's not quite mysterious-sounding enough.

To conclude, a little factoid that I was reading about last week and which actually came in handy today. The colour of the sky, not a reflection of the sea as many people assume (I never quite understood how that's supposed to work), is due to the scattering of blue light by nitrogen in the atmosphere, leading to the impression that the blue is coming from all around us. This is called Rayleigh Scattering. The reasons why the sky can change colours somewhat are related, but too complicated for me to bother writing down right now.

Night of the Living Notes

A screenshot of Duke Nukem Forever and a movie of The Sims? I'm fairly sure those are both signs of the Apocolypse.

Well, I suppose this will just be a notes post since I can think of little else.

I've been meaning to mention this for a while, but time is now running out to send emails to the British Library in order to help them form Email Britain, a record of communications and every day life which will apparently be of use to future researchers. I'm not sure how it'll be used, but it's been fun trying to find an email to send in that I think sums up my usual activities. I reckon I've now got one that I can send to email@emailbritain.co.uk.

I'd like to point you all in the direction of Superdickery, which I've recently started reading.

There's a trailer for the new Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles game up here. I was a huge fan of the original's multiplayer, once I got a few friends to sit through the opening cinematic and get powerful enough to tackle basic enemies. We'll finish it one of these days. And Four Swords. We'll finish that, too.

Ever heard of UCAS? I'm not sure what it stands for and I don't want to look it up, but they're the organisation in charge of my university future. Since I signed up for a "UCAS card" (50% interest, 100% APR (I can't remember what that stands for either) on all purchases made before, on or after the 12th of May 1967, if you're over 70 and drive a bus), I got an email from them about a competition or a survey or something. I don't really know, because their website was down when i tried the link.

Actually, more about that tomorrow. I've just managed to access the survey.... the questions... I can't... there's just no way to describe them using ordinary words. I'll have to invent an entirely new language in time for tomorrow's post.

And... uhh... the Penny Arcade game is looking pretty good?

There wasn't a NWT yesterday (Skippy's fault!), but thanks to my telepathic link with Sam, there may well be a Woodle tomorrow.

Not so super blogging

Yeah, it's 20 past 11 and I have nothing to say. I gave some thought to various topics for blogging on over the course of the day but none of it really came to anything. Personally, I blame Seanbaby and his hatred of the Super Friends. Try looking at Aquaman's page for one of the most hilarious web pages you'll ever read.

I know I keep saying I'll have to sink more time into this blog and maybe I shall over the coming days, we'll just have to wait and see.

And as I conclude this, my shortest blog post, I note that over the last few days, with my recommendations of Bad Astronomy and now Seanbaby's Super Friends page, I've been doing something more akin to the original spirit of weblogs. Because, of course, "blog" was not a term then that could be combined with "web". Rather, it was a simple portmanteau of "web" and "log", the content simply being brief descriptions and links to sites that the authors found interesting in their journey's around the intertubes.

Topical Abandonment

Is it my imagination or does Machoke get more and more purple with each new Pokemon game?

I have spent the last half hour trying to summarise the character of the Doctor and what exactly it is that makes Doctor Who such an incredible program. I've discovered that I just can't do it and so, for the first time in a while (I still have an old major topic hanging around in the back of my mind from months ago), I've just dropped that angle for now and I plan to return to it as soon as possible.

So, because of that and other reasons, I don't really have time for one of my long, rambling posts today. I suppose I could, and probably should, have started earlier but I didn't. It wasn't really due to an abundance of other activities but to a distinct lack of any kind of motivation, or the energy to act upon that which I did have. The first week, or at least the first day, of any holiday (not that study leave is technically a "holiday" but I'm counting it as such due to my incredible confidence/arrogance) is like that for me. I didn't even get much more of Pokemon Diamond done, except relentlessly training up a Ponyta while watching The Sweeney.

I have been doing more reading of Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy and, if I only seemed to recommend it to you yesterday as something for filling space, I can now only recommend it even more strongly. Plait picks apart common misconceptions about astronomy, and sometimes science in general, that so many people seem to believe because they are presented to us in the media. He has whole sections devoted to poking holes in the plots of films and television shows, that he often admits to otherwise liking, which take liberties with the laws of physics.

I myself am often a great cynic and nitpicker when it comes to TV shows, the treatment of DNA and genetic manipulation in Daleks in Manhattan driving me to near madness, but it's fascinating to see mathematics that I can (occasionally) recognise, sometimes from my use of it in exams just over the last couple of days, applied on the scale of planets and suns. And used to point out stupid mistakes in the news.

I have more to say on the matter but, alas, my own laziness and my desire to post before midnight each day has undone me. Of course, at least I've remembered to post today. Skippy seems to have forgotten New Word Thursday once again. And we were doing so well, too.

I'll return to this topic yet. When you least expect it.
